Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi feels that this afternoon’s Serie A clash with Sassuolo will be a test of whether the team are really back from their crisis in form.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN ahead of the match, the coach also explained that he decided to start Andre Onana in goal based on training this morning.

Inter beat Barcelona in the Champions League during the week to secure a vital result not just in their quest to reach the knockout rounds but also to suggest that they are capable of putting their early season struggles beside them.

The team now go in search of three points from a tough Neroverdi team, which would be further confirmation of what was shown against the Blaugranas.

Onana starts in goal again after having impressed against Barcelona on Tuesday, which suggests that he is part of the coach’s plan to try and repeat that standard of performance.

“We are coming off the back of an excellent match against Barcelona and we have to follow up,” the coach stressed.

“It will be a difficult game, against an organized team with quality.”

“We will need a very good performance,” he made clear.

Of the choice in goal, Inzaghi said that “It’s a choice for me, as I have to make all the time.”

“My doubt was resolved this morning as was the case with the other position, apart from the attack in which unfortunately our options are limited.”

“But there hasn’t been a change to the hierarchy, a coach just has to make choices.”

Regarding who will play as the regista in midfielder, Inzaghi explained that “We’ll start with Asllani, with Barella and Calhanoglu flanking him as mezzali.”
