Legendary former Inter goalkeeper Andre Onana feels that current Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi deciding on Andre Onana as first-choice goalkeeper can only be a good thing.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, as reported by FCInterNews, Zenga gave his thoughts on the decision in the Inter goal, and also stated that he’s heard that Robin Gosens will be on his way out during the January transfer window.

Onana made his first ever start in Serie A against Sassuolo earlier this afternoon.

The Cameroonian had already been trusted to start all three of the Nerazzurri’s Champions League matches so far this season, but being given the nod in the league looks like another milestone.

There can be no certainty regarding Inzaghi’s choice at this point in time, but things do look to be moving strongly in the direction of Onana being transitioned to the role of starting goalkeeper.

Zenga said that “It’s Inzaghi’s decisive choice and this is something I like to see, a coach must always decide for the good of the team.”

Of the Nerazzurri’s victory over Sassuolo, Zenga said that “It’s a very important victory, three points in the table that is more than fair and confirms what we saw against Barcelona, that this is a real team that knows how to be compact, suffer and fight.”

“The thing that surprised me most was seeing Skriniar come on for D’Ambrosio,” he added.

Of Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi’s second half goal, he said that “They’ll still have to work on it because the problems Inter are having are mostly in the defensive phase.”

“You have to decide whether it’s the midfielder who tracks him or one of the three defenders who has to watch him.”

Zenga also weighed in on the situation of wingback Gosens who has never really found form with the Nerazzurri, stating that “In January he will leave or so I’ve heard.”

“I heard that he will probably return to Germany,” he explained.
