Inter striker Edin Dzeko is pleased to have finally hit triple figures in Serie A with the Nerazzurri and Roma.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN after the team’s 2-1 Serie A win over Sassuolo in which he scored his 100th and 101st goal in the Italian top flight, the Bosnian said that he’d be taking his teammates out to dinner to celebrate the milestone.

Dzeko has been playing in the Italian top flight since 2015 when he joined Roma from Manchester City.

Having joined Inter last summer, the 36-year-old has continued scoring fairly prolifically as he had tended to do with the Giallorossi.

After hitting goal number 99 in Serie A during the Milan derby last month Dzeko had to wait a bit before he could reach a hundred.

However, the Bosnian’s two goals against the Neroverdi this afternoon were enough to secure the three points for his team, and reach a personal milestone.

“I could have already scored 103, but unfortunately the last couple have been offside,” he noted.

Asked which of his goals in Serie A has been the best, the striker said that “Everyone has been beautiful, maybe whichever is the last one.”

“For me it’s enough for the ball to cross the line, but I remember the first one against Juve even still.”

Of the win against Sassuolo, Dzeko said that “Maybe we would have lost a match like this three or four weeks ago.”

“We didn’t have the greatest match which is to the credit of Sassuolo,” he noted, “it wasn’t easy to win after so many defeats in the league but we wanted to prove ourselves again after beating Barcelona.”

“In the end, all the point count,” he added.

“Before the match we told ourselves that we shouldn’t be ashamed to sit deep and wait for our opportunities at times,” Dzeko noted.

“At times before we were going for it tool hard and trying to press, and conceding goals,” he continued, “and here we needed to win.”

“We all suffered together, we wanted the win and in the end it’s deserved.”

Of his goals, the Bosnian said that “Scoring a goal is a wonderful thing and when the ball crosses the line you feel the happiest about anything in the world.”

“Today I’m a happy man and I want to give my contribution as long as I can, now I’m doing well and I have to keep going.”

Of fellow striker Romelu Lukaku, Dzeko said that “I wouldn’t say we’re in competition, we’re both part of a great team and that’s nothing new for me.”

“The team is what matters and when we win we’re all happy.”

“Sometimes we play, sometimes other players play, but when we win we’re all happy,” he added.

He closed by saying that “I’ll certainly invite the team to dinner, because you don’t score a hundred goals every day.”
