Inter striker Edin Dzeko feels that the team got a very important result in the context of their season by beating Sassuolo in Serie A.

Speaking to InterTV after the match, the 36-year-old gave his reaction to a match that saw the Nerazzurri get back to winning ways in the league, and also saw him score his hundredth goal in Serie A.

Dzeko scored twice to power his team to victory against the Sassuolo, with his brace enough to cancel out the Neroverdi’s second-half goal which levelled to score temporarily.

It was not the most emphatic of wins for the Nerazzurri, but it was enough to get the job done.

Now, the Nerazzurri will have little time to celebrate this victory before they have to begin work again on preparing for Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Barcelona.

Of his hundredth goal in Serie A, Dzeko said that “I’ll celebrate at home with my family and kids.”

Of his tendency to score away to Sassuolo, the Bosnian said that “Obviously this is a ground I like a lot, I also scored a lot with Roma.”

“Today we suffered as a team, but after so many negative results we needed a win like this,” he added.

Of the impact of playing after beating Barcelona last Tuesday, Dzeko said that “It was definitely positive, we won against them a few days ago.”

“Today we wanted to get back to winning ways in the league, now we have to rest and prepare well for the next match.”

He emphasized that “Today was very important, the schedule is very difficult, we’re playing every three days.”

“Facing Sassuolo in the middle of two matches against Barcelona is not easy.”

He then noted that “We all suffered together, we weren’t ashamed to sit deep and wait for our chances.”

“We won and now we’re waiting for our second match against the Blaugranas.”
