Inter striker Edin Dzeko showed all his leadership qualities in yesterday afternoon’s Serie A win over Sassuolo.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who highlight how the Bosnian spoke authoritatively with his teammates on the pitch.

Dzeko marked yesterday’s match with a match-winning brace that were his 100th and 101st goal in Serie A, but that’s not all that he did.

The former Roma, Manchester City, and Wolfsburg striker was the most experienced player on the pitch with Samir Handanovic on the bench, and he seemed to recognize this function.

Throughout the match, Dzeko was speaking with his teammates, supportively but also admonishing them for lapses, including goalkeeper Andre Onana.

At 36 Dzeko is certainly in a phase of his career where he increasingly must rely on his experience rather than athleticism.

Part of this experience is having the ability to step up and be a leader in tough matches where less experienced teammates are in need of guidance.

Against the Neroverdi, the Bosnian showed that he can fulfill exactly this role.
