Inter defender Francesco Acerbi was virtually flawless at the heart of the defense in his team’s 2-1 Serie A win over Sassuolo yesterday.
This is the view in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who give the 34-year-old a 7/10 grade in the player ratings for the match.
Acerbi made his fourth start in all competitions for Inter against the Neroverdi, and showed once again that he is not struggling to adjust after joining from Lazio on the transfer deadline.
The 34-year-old hardly put a foot wrong and made no noticeable errors in his penalty area as he marshalled Sassuolo striker Andre Pinamonti and the entire Neroverdi attack well.
Meanwhile, the Corriere gave wingback Denzeul Dumfries a 7.5/10 score for a very bright display on the right flank, and awarded match-winner Edin Dzeko the highest grade, 8/10, for his brace and overall performance.
Midfielder Kristjan Asllani, on the other hand, received just 5/10 for a performance that was not really up to par and saw him substituted off at halftime.
