Inter are hopeful of having striker Romelu Lukaku back fit in their Champions League clash with Barcelona on Wednesday.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that while it is far from certain that the Belgian will be back in time, the Nerazzurri are hoping for it.

Lukaku has been out longer than expected with his current thigh injury.

The 29-year-old had been hoped to return immediately after the international break or even a little before it, and has instead missed three matches after the break.

However, recovery looks very close for the striker, and the feeling is that he should be back in training within the next few days.

It will be very tight for Lukaku to be back in time to be available for the match against Barcelona.

However, the club are not ruling it out given how close the Belgian is to recovering and returning to training.
