Inter striker Edin Dzeko proved that his age is hardly an impediment to his continuing to have value to his team in front of goal with his brace against Sassuolo.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who praise the Bosnian for his leadership and character to find the back of the net when his team needed him.

Dzeko is not quite the player that he was even a few years ago, aged 36 and not having the pace and athleticism that he would have in his physical peak.

However, this has not meant that the former Manchester City and Roma striker has been unable to do a job for the team when called upon.

The 36-year-old has already scored plenty of important goals for the Nerazzurri since joining last summer, and has had the responsibility of scoring with not just Romelu Lukaku injured, but also with Lautaro Martinez misfiring in front of goal.

Dzeko proved that this is anything but beyond him, popping up when needed and applying the finishing touch for his 100th and 101st goal in Serie A.
