Italian journalist Mario Sconcerti believes that Inter’s 2-1 Serie A victory over Sassuolo yesterday was well-deserved.

Writing in his column in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, Sconcerti praised the Nerazzurri for their performance, and particularly noted the effect of Denzel Dumfries down their right flank.

Inter came up against a Sassuolo team who were always likely to give them a tough match, but they gave as good as they good.

The Nerazzurri did not go all-out in attack and focused as much on remaining defensively solid as they did on picking their spots in which to attack.

However, when Inter did get forward, they played with incisiveness that made them fairly good values for the two goals that they scored.

As Sconcerti highlights, a bright and dynamic performance from Dumfries was one of the aspects of the Nerazzurri’s display that caused Sassuolo the most problems.

“Inter won deservedly away at Sassuolo,” the journalist writes.

“The difference in quality was simply to much to be overcome,” he continues.

Sconcerti highlights that “A bit of a comeback from Dumfries was enough to push the game in their favourite.”

“Inter are not an agile team, they need Dumfries’ vertical quality.”

“Dimarco crosses well, but Dumfries can get past his man, so he can get in behind, he showed that,” he continues.

“He is the only one who can do that,” Sconcerti writes of the Dutchman.

“And then Dzeko arrived with the punctuality of the wise old centre-forward at the balls into the box.”
