Striker Edin Dzeko and wingback Denzel Dumfries were Inter’s two standout performers against Sassuolo in the view of Italian media.

The pair were given the two highest scores in the player ratings for the match published in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

Dzeko started in attack with Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi very limited in his options with a short-handed squad in forward areas, but the Bosnian more than proved he was the right man for the job.

Even apart from his match-winning brace, the 36-year-old also brought calmness and leadership throughout the ninety minutes.

Meanwhile, Dumfries did not manage to bag a goal or assist, but did just about everything else.

The Dutchman looked very up for testing Rogerio and Armand Lauriente for pace, and managed to get the better of his man virtually every time, also winning the ball back high up the pitch on a couple occasions.

The Gazzetta gave Dzeko a 7.5/10 score for his performance, and went slightly lower with a 7/10 grade for Dumfries.

Meanwhile, midfielder Kristjan Asllani was given a comparatively low score of 5.5/10 for his disappointing first-half display, and striker Lautaro Martinez was deemed to be the Nerazzurri’s worst performer at 5/10.
