Inter striker Lautaro Martinez struggled to get into the match as he extended his goalless run to eight matches in all competitions against Sassuolo yesterday afternoon.

This was the view across Italian media, with L’Interista highlighting the fact that the Argentine received mediocre to poor scores in the player ratings for the match.

Martinez got his season off to a flying start in front of goal, on target against all of Spezia, Lazio, and Cremonese in the Nerazzurri’s first four matches of the season.

However, since his strike off the bench against Cremonese it has been eight matches without a goal for the 25-year-old.

Moreover, it was not just a lack of goals that Martinez was criticized for against Sassuolo, as the striker was also simply limited in the effectiveness of his overall play.

Both the Gazzetta dello Sport and Tuttosport gave Martinez a 5/10 grade for his display, whilst L’Interista and TuttoMercatoWeb went with 5.5/10.

The Corriere dello Sport felt that the Argentine’s performance was worthy of 6/10, but this was as high as major Italian media could go.
