Referee Simone Sozza had a fairly uneventful afternoon in Inter’s Serie A win over Sassuolo, but he did his job well enough.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, whoa argue that the official had no controversial decisions but made the right ones when he had to.

Sassuolo had a half-hearted appeal for a handball in the penalty area early on in the first half, but it had been Nicolo Barella’s face that had made contact with the ball rather than the Nerazzurri midfielder’s hand.

On all three of the goals, there was little for Sozza or for the VAR to look at that could have potentially disallowed them.

However, the whole officiating crew did well to keep things moving along and not dwell on any important moments for an unncessary length of time.

Sozza whistled for 31 fouls in total during the match, which the Corriere argued was a few too many, but overall took charge of the match with authority and competence.
