Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi feels that tomorrow evening’s Champions League clash with Barcelona can have a decisive impact on which team makes the knockout rounds.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset ahead of the match, the coach stressed that the outcome of the group could well turn on the result tomorrow.
On paper Inter have an advantage going into tomorrow’s match, given that they won the reverse fixture.
However, a Blaugranas win would instantly erase the advantage that the Nerazzurri built for themselves with that win.
Accordingly, Inzaghi knows that his team will be desperate to take at least a point so that they can still be in the driver’s seat in their pursuit of the knockouts.
At the Camp Nou against a very strong Barcelona team, however, it will not be easy.
“We know that this match will be decisive for the group,” Inzaghi said, “we had an excellent match on Tuesday and we need to follow it up.”
“We face a strong opponent in what will be a very hot environment, and so we’ll have to be aggressive, determined, and also lucid with the ball,” the coach continued.
Regarding some of the refereeing controversies in the reverse fixture, Inzaghi said that “I don’t like to comment, I listened and read about it, UEFA analyzed and concluded that both the referee and the VAR did a good job.”
As for how he thinks tomorrow evening will go, the coach said that “Predicting matches is never easy, they play with a lot of possession, we’ll have to be compact and aggressive, and then take care of the ball when we have it.”
