Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi is thinking about Denzel Dumfries as one of his team’s main tactical weapons on the counterattack against Barcelona tomorrow.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the coach is likely to start the Dutchman, although he could also use him as an option from the bench.
Dumfries did not start against the Blaugranas in the reverse fixture, but came off the bench in the second half.
The Nerazzurri are likely to play a counterattacking game at the Camp Nou tomorrow, however, and Inzaghi is thinking about how to best set his team up to take advantage of spaces that Barcelona leave at the back.
There is not necessarily a great deal of pace or directness in this Inter team, but Dumfries is certainly a major threat in that regard.
As such, the coach’s current thinking is to lean towards starting the 26-year-old over Matteo Darmian on the right flank.
However, he could still leave Dumfries on the bench to start, having him come on later when the Barcelona legs begin to tire in defense.
