Inter striker Romelu Lukaku is not likely to return to the pitch until the team’s Serie A clash with Fiorentina the week after next.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that a return against Salernitana on Sunday is looking unlikely.

Lukaku has now been out for well over a month with a thigh strain, having missed every match for the Nerazzurri since their Serie A loss to Lazio in September.

The Belgian will be out for tomorrow’s Champions League match against Barcelona, and whilst he had been targeting a return against Salernitana on Sunday, even this looks to be optimistic.

Lukaku’s recovery is still dragging on, and at the moment it does not look probable that he will be fit for that match.

Instead, the 29-year-old should have to wait until the Serie A fixture after that against Fiorentina to finally make his now long-awaited return to the pitch.
