UEFA looke to have dismissed the protests of Barcelona about referee Slavko Vincic after his officiating of their Champions League loss to Inter last week by assigning him to another match.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who note that the Slovenian referee is immediately back in action in Rangers’ clash with Liverpool, whilst VAR Pol van Bonkel has been appointed to the match between Viktoria Plzen and Bayern Munich.

Barcelona had no shortage of complains about Vincic’s handling of their match against Inter at the San Siro.

The players and staff made no effort to hide their outrage at two handball decisions which went against them during the match.

Afterwards, coach Xavi spoke scathingly about the refereeing, a theme that was echoed by Blaugranas President Joan Laporta who described it as “a scandal.”

The Blaugranas made clear that they were not intending to file any formal complaints regarding the referee or VAR, but criticized their competence in no uncertain terms.

Nevertheless, UEFA evidently did not have their faith in Vincic, or in van Bonkel, shaken, as they have already assigned them to Champions League matches once again.
