Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi is anticipating that this evening’s Champions League clash with Barcelona will be vital for his team’s season.

Speaking to InterTV ahead of the match, the coach emphasized that his team will have to show all of their character and determination if they hope to get a result against a very strong Barcelona team.

Inter managed to get a 1-0 win in the reverse fixture last week, but it was perhaps the most demanding match that they’ve faced all season.

The Blaugranas showed all their quality to dominate possession of the ball, and battered the Nerazzurri’s penalty area with crosses as they methodically tried to work just one telling goalscoring opportunity.

However, Inter’s backline held firm, as the entire team gritted their teeth and held the Catalans at arm’s length.

Now, the Nerazzurri will have to do it all over again in what Inzaghi described as “A decisive match, for the purposes of the group, we have to follow up on last Tuesday’s match because we face a strong team at a difficult away ground.”

He continued that “Character and heart are the two things that can never be missing, and they’ll be important tomorrow.”

“I expect Barcelona to be a team with a lot of possession and a lot of quality players, as always,” he continued.

Inzaghi concluded that “We have to do well to not drop too deep, and we have to be aggressive and take our chances when they come.”
