Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi feels that his team played an excellent match to grab a 3-3 draw against Barcelona in the Champions League.

Speaking to Amazon Prime after the match, the coach also noted that the team must immediately shift focus to their Serie A commitments rather than thinking that they have one foot in the knockout rounds.

Inter played out a match that won’t be forgotten by anyone anytime soon against Barcelona at the Camp Nou.

The two teams traded the lead on several occasions to arrive at a 3-3 scoreline at full time that felt like a fair reflection of the highly eventful contest.

However, both teams had chances to score a winner, and the Nerazzurri in particularly came very close on a couple occasions on the counter.

Inzaghi feels that his team could well have taken the three points if they’d been more clinical, but that ultimately they did well to secure a point that is massive for them in their pursuit of the knockouts.

“I congratulated the guys afterwards,” he said, “we played a great match against an opponent of immense quality.”

“We created a lot, and we had to suffer all together.” he continued. “We could have even won it to wrap up the group with two matches to spare, but we hope to make the fans happy against Viktoria Plzen.”

The coach noted that “We had to have courage and we never gave up playing our game, we created a lot then we conceded the goal on the stroke of half-time.”

“I said the guys to rest assured because I knew we’d continue to create plenty.”

Of his consideration to potentially switch to a 3-5-1-1 shape before the match, Inzaghi said that “My reflection was due to only having two strikers available, otherwise I wouldn’t have thought about it.”

“Lautaro and Dzeko helped us a lot for to get this draw,” he added, “and it could have been a win, now we have this chance to reach the knockouts from the most difficult group.”

And asked if he expects the San Siro to be full for the Nerazzurri’s next group stage match against Viktoria Plzen, Inzaghi replied that “I have no doubt, I’ve been here for 15 months and the fans have always been with us for 15 months.”

“But first we have to think about the matches against Salernitana and Fiorentina,” the coach emphasized.
