Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella feels that the team have found the spirit they’d lacked at the start of the season.
Speaking to Amazon Prime after the Nerazzurri’s 3-3 draw against Barcelona in the Champions League, the 25-year-old also made clear that the team aren’t taking qualification for the knockout rounds for granted.
Inter could hardly be accused of lacking fight or intensity in this evening’s Champions League clash.
There were some defensive lapses from both teams, and the match was played at a frenetic tempo for the majority of the ninety minutes.
The Blaugranas virtually never stopped pushing for a win that they all but needed, and found the lead twice.
However, the Nerazzurri showed no lack of motivation and pushed just as hard when they got the chance to.
Barella got on the scoresheet for the first of Inter’s three goals, whilst Lautaro Martinez and Robin Gosens also scored on a night that no Inter players or fans will soon forget.
“We really wanted a win and a draw is what we got,” the midfielder reacted, “but we’re still delighted with the spirit we showed on the pitch.”
“We’re finding it once again and we’re happy about it,” he added.
Barella reflected that “We went through a period in which nothing went our way and we got carried away, now we want to pick ourselves back up.”
And of qualification for the knockout rounds, he made clear that “We know it’s not done yet, we’ll give it our all.”
