Inter striker Lautaro Martinez feels that the team must play the kind of match against Barcelona that they’ve worked towards in training.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Amazon Prime, the 25-year-old also expressed calmness about his recent lack of goals and emphasized that his only priority is helping the team.

Inter beat Barcelona in the reverse fixture last week, but they will have no illusions about how difficult this match is going to be.

A performance like last Tuesday’s at the San Siro would give the Nerazzurri a real chance of getting a result this evening.

However, nothing can be guaranteed against a team of the Blaugranas’ quality, and so Inter must work to put in the absolute best display they can in and out of possession.

The team have a massive opportunity ahead of them and have been working in training to be ready to try and take it.

“Barcelona are a strong team, they have a lot of quality and a lot of attacking options,” Martinez said.

“We have to be able to play the game we’ve been preparing to play in the past few days in order to overcome their quality in attack.”

Looking back to his Champions League goal at the Camp Nou in 2019, Martinez said that “It was a great feeling because it was my first in the Champions League.”

“I hope to give a hand to the team and to win,” he added.

Of his recent goal drought, Martinez said that “Sometimes it’s something I think about a lot because strikers always live for goals, but as I’ve always said, I try to lend a hand to the team, and then maybe when I least expect it the goal will arrive.”
