Inter midfielder Roberto Gagliardini could play from the start against Barcelona this evening.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper La Repubblica, who report that the 28-year-old could start in midfield ahead of Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
According to La Repubblica, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi is still likely to start with a strike pair of Lautaro Martinez and Edin Dzeko despite reports that he could switch the system to a 3-5-1-1.
Had the coach gone with this formation, Mkhitaryan would have been a prime candidate to play as an attacking midfielder.
In any event, however, a midfield trio would likely contain both Nicolo Barella and Hakan Calhanoglu, although there would be some doubt as to the identity of the third player in the trio.
Mkhitaryan had started against the Blaugranas last week, and so could potentially retain his place.
According to La Repubblica, however, it should instead be Gagliardini who starts.
