Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi feels that there is hope of the team getting back forwards Romelu Lukaku and Joaquin Correa for their Serie A clash with Salernitana.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia after the team’s Champions League draw with Barcelona, the 46-year-old updated on the fitness of the duo ahead of the weekend.

Lukaku has now been out for well over a month with his thigh problem.

However, the Belgian has been getting very close to a full recovery.

This evening’s match against Barcelona proved to be a bit too soon for the 29-year-old to be part of the squad, but he will be targeting the next match or two.

Meanwhile, Correa has been out for the past week with a knee problem suffered against the Blaugranas last week, though he could be back in short order as well.

Asked if he expects Lukaku back for the weekend, Inzaghi said that “There’s hope for him and for Correa, less so for Brozovic even though he’s working very well. We’re waiting to get all three back.”

And reacting to the 3-3 draw against Barcelona, the coach said that “The draw was important for us based on how the match developed and  how the second half went.”

“We played a great match of intensity, aggression and determination,” he said.

“We still have more to do to reach the knockouts, but we have two more big matches,” the coach made clear.

Inzaghi reflected that “This team has done great things in fifteen months.”

“We knew we were playing against a very strong team with a lot of quality, and we deserved to be in front.”

He called it “A good evening but not excellent, if we’d scored the goal for 4-3 we would’ve finished the group with a match to spare.”

“Now we still need to do more,” he stressed.

“I’m used to these kinds of performances from these guys,” the coach said.
