Inter legend Beppe Bergomi has said that he was pleasantly surprised by the Nerazzurri at Camp Nou on Wednesday night, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.
Speaking whilst on Sky Sport Italia, via FCInternews, Beppe Bergomi admitted that he did not have a high amount of faith in Inter heading into the match against Barcelona at Camp Nou on Wednesday night.
The game ended 3-3 after a frantic final 15 minutes in Spain. The goals for Inter came from Nicolo Barella, Lautaro Martinez and Robin Gosens in the second half of the match.
It was overall a good display from Inter and the point means that Inter just need to get a win against Viktoria Plzen at San Siro in the next game in order to progress to the next round.
“Inter are a strong team, but I was pleasantly surprised by yesterday’s performance at Camp Nou.
“If Inter rediscovers that embrace to Gosens when everyone went the German, then the Inter DNA returns.
“Even in a non-perfect squad, without players who beat the man, the compactness of the team makes you go further.”
Beppe Bergomi also talked about the collective strength of Inter that was shown and how that can help them in the tournament.
“The goal comes out, you find the play, everyone fights and pulls in the same direction.
“Calhanoglu does that kind of performance, Barella doesn’t flail about but throws himself in and helps everyone.
“I’ve been there many times: if the good play is not sporadic, then Inter can have their say.”
