Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi feels that even though the team managed an impressive performance and result against Barcelona during the week, they have to focus on the future.
Speaking on the club’s official Instagram account before tomorrow’s match against Salernitana, Inzaghi stressed that the team’s attention is largely turned towards the challenge of facing off against Salernitana tomorrow.
Inter look to have gone some way towards righting the ship after their poor start to the campaign by beating and then drawing with Barcelona in the Champions League on either side of their first league win in three matches against Sassuolo.
However, this does not mean that things have gotten easy for Inzaghi and his team.
The Nerazzurri must work hard and fight to keep that momentum going, starting with a tough match against a Salernitana who have enjoyed a decent start to the campaign including earning a point away to Juventus.
“It was an intense match on Wednesday,” Inzaghi said, “we played a great match against a very strong opponent, but it’s already the past.”
“We’ll think about the Champions League again in due time, but tomorrow we have a match that we have to play in the best way against an opponent who are well-organized.”
“The team has always shown that they have heart, and along with great determination that allowed us to play a great match on Wednesday.”
“But now our focus is on tomorrow, on Salernitana,” he stressed.
“The match we just played is one of those matches where you have to spend a lot of physical and mental energy,” the coach explained, “there’s another match tomorrow already, and we have to recover and remember that we will have to play another intense match.”
Of tomorrow’s opposition Salernitana, Inzaghi said that “Last season they had a very good second half of the season, they’re a team with great intensity and quality and some top players, so we’ll have to play well.”
Of the absences from the squad, Inzaghi said that “We have some players out, and they as well, so the difference will have to be made by the determination and motivation of the two teams who are on the pitch.”
“Obviously I hope my team has more, because it will be an important match.”
