Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi feels that it makes sense to have put out a mostly unchanged lineup against Barcelona to the one that drew against Barcelona in midweek as the players have recovered physically.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia ahead of this afternoon’s match, the coach emphasized that the players are well-rested and ready to play an organized match against Salernitana.

Inzaghi has decided to make just one change to the team that drew against the Blaugranas on Wednesday.

Francesco Acerbi takes the place of Alessandro Bastoni in defense, but otherwise the eleven remains mostly unchanged.

This contrasts somewhat with the approach that the coach has taken for much of the season, rotating the starting eleven significantly between matches.

So far in the season Inzaghi seems to have been mindful of not overusing players, in view of the packed schedule around the winter World Cup.

However, as far as this afternoon goes, he does not feel that this will be a problem.

“In the past few days we’ve recovered,” the coach said, “working more on the video than on the pitch.”

“The most important thing is that the team play an organized match against a high level opponent.”

Inzaghi then stressed that “You need to have the humility to play a great match against a quality team.”

“In front of our fans, we will need to play a very mature match,” he added.
