Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi doesn’t feel too worried about his team’s ability to make up the gap in the Serie A table.

Speaking in a press conference after this afternoon’s 2-0 win over Salernitana, as reported by FCInterNews, the coach acknowledged that the team are a ways behind at this stage, but emphasized that there is still a great deal of football left to be played.

Inter have pulled to within six points of the top of the Serie A table, although if Napoli are to win their match later today, it will be back to an eight-point gap.

This is certainly further behind than the Nerazzurri will have expected at the start of the season.

However, it is hardly an insurmountable gap if Inter can find form over the rest of the season.

Two wins on the bounce against the likes of Sassuolo and Salernitana is a positive sign in this respect.

However, the team will still have plenty to fight for, and it will not be easy to keep the momentum and consistency.

“We’re a ways behind in the table,” Inzaghi said, “but there are many matches ahead of us.”

“There are daily discussions with the players, the directors, and the President,” Inzaghi said.

“What I focus on is still what I see every day on the training pitch.”

“Today we were in control,” the coach continued, “the guys were helping each other out.”

We played a serious, focused match,” he added, “I’m satisfied but from tomorrow we’ll be thinking about Fiorentina.”

Asked if he expects Marcelo Brozovic to immediately come back in for Hakan Calhanogly, Inzaghi replied that “There are no guaranteed starters, as a coach I would like to have Brozovic, Gagliardini, and Lukaku all back.”

“When you play a lot you have to have all the players available,” he continued, “we’ve gotten Correa back, now we hope to do so with the rest.”
