Inter striker Lautaro Martinez feels that he and his teammates have grown into a challenging season.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia after the Nerazzurri’s 2-0 Serie A victory over Salernitana, the 25-year-old hailed the maturity of the team to get past a slump in form over the first few weeks of the campaign.

Inter’s start to the season was anything but what they’ll have been hoping for and expecting.

Four defeat put the Nerazzurri in a position with ground to make up, and more worryingly, it was not at all clear that the team would be able to improve on the pitch.

However, two wins in a row in the league along with four points against Barcelona to put themselves on track to qualify for the Champions League knockouts have been a big response.

Against Salernitana, Inter looked composed and focused to get three points on the road to catching up at the top.

Martinez called the result a “Win that means a lot.”

“It shows that we have grown and matured,” he continued.

“After the difficult moment we went through, we’re doing well now, and we have to keep going like this.”

“We’re on the right path after dropping some big points,” the striker said.

“We’ve turned the page and it’s evident.”

Of his second goal in as many matches after an eight-match goal drought, Martinez said that “I hit it, maybe the goalkeeper made an error, I don’t know, but that’s how football is.”

“For us strikers it’s like that,” he continued.

Asked about the talks the team had in the locker room to improve on their start to the season, Martinez replied that “We spoke about it, but let’s keep that there. Let’s just say that you can see it on the pitch.”
