Italian journalist Fabio Ravezzani feels that the criticisms and abuse aimed at Francesco Acerbi over a moment in a Lazio loss to AC Milan last season were absurd.
Tweeting after Acerbi responded to his critics in his postmatch comments following the Nerazzurri’s Serie A win over Salernitana, Ravezzani dismissed the hostility that some Inter fans in particular had given the 34-year-old.
Acerbi didn’t hide his feelings in some his postmatch comments whilst on media duty after Inter’s Serie A clash with Salernitana.
The 34-year-old admitted that it had been hard experiencing criticism from Lazio fans, and also some hostility on social media from Inter supporters who were resistant to reports that he would join.
Acerbi had been partly at fault for a late AC Milan winner against Lazio towards the end of last season that had been a vital result in the Rossoneri beating Inter to the Serie A title.
Some Inter fans noted that the 34-year-old, who had a past with Milan, had appeared to smile after the goal went in.
However, Ravezzani was scathing in his assessment of these kinds of theories about Acerbi’s supposed motivations.
“Only an idiot would think that Acerbi had smiled on the pitch because Lazio conceded against Milan,” he tweeted. “Unfortunately the world is full of idiots.”
Solo un deficiente poteva pensare che #Acerbi in campo potesse sorridere perché la Lazio aveva appena preso gol dal Milan. Purtroppo il mondo è pieno di deficienti.
