Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu proved that he can do not just an adequate job of filling in for Marcelo Brozovic as the team’s regista but an excellent one in yesterday’s 2-0 Serie A win over Salernitana.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who gave the Turk a 7.5/10 score for his display in the player ratings for the match.

Calhanoglu has been given the task of replicating Brozovic’s role at the base of midfield in recent matches, a task which has proved troublesome in the past.

The Croat has been the hart of Inter in and out of possession particularly since the start of last season, and replicating the full scope of his contribution is no mean feat.

However, against Salernitana, Calhanoglu more than passed the test as he calmly helped Inter dominate the midfield throughout the match.

Meanwhile, the Corriere give wingback Denzel Dumfries a 6.5/10 score, noting that he showed that he can be completely physically dominate and would be virtually unstoppable if he improves his technique.
