Inter have emerged from their poor spell of early-season form, but they still lack a certain cutting edge in front of goal.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who argue that even with the very encouraging performances of the past couple weeks, the Nerazzurri have still missed a clinical striker like Romelu Lukaku.
Inter have not exactly lacked for goals in their recent matches, as Lautaro Martinez has put his goal drought behind him, and Edin Dzeko showed that he can still be decisive in front of goal.
Moreover, midfielders Nicolo Barella and Hakan Calhanoglu have also chipped in.
The Nerazzurri have shown that, like with last season, they can spread the goals around without a truly elite centre-forward if they play a team game of enough quality.
This is all well and good, but Martinez’s occasional goal droughts remain a worry, and there are big doubts about Dzeko’s ability to be decisive on a match-to-match basis through the season.
Accordingly, this Inter still look like a team for whom the return of their real goalscoring talisman Lukaku can’t come a moment too soon for Tuttosport.
