Inter continued to ride the wave of momentum from their performances in the Champions League against Barcelona to beat Salernitana yesterday.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who note that striker Lautaro Martinez and midfielder Nicolo Barella reprised their excellent displays against the Blaugranas to lead the team to a convincing 2-0 victory.

Martinez and Barella are two of Inter’s most important players, and when they play well the team as a whole tends to as well.

In the early going this season, the duo were often not showing anything near their best.

Following from this, the Nerazzurri as a team frequently looked unconvincing.

However, both Martinez and Barella really came into their own with great performances and goals in last Wednesday’s 3-3 draw against Barcelona.

It was never going to be assured that they and the team could keep that momentum going with a tough weekend commitment against Salernitana.

However, both put in performances at the expected level, and both got on the scoresheet once again to ensure that the positive momentum did not come to a grinding halt.
