Italian journalist Matteo Marani feels that Inter coach Simone Inzaghi has done an excellent job of turning things around at Inter.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, Marani praised the Nerazzurri coach for proving his doubters wrong and getting things back on track with the team.
Inter’s start to the season had cast some serious doubt on Inzaghi’s suitability to lead this Nerazzurri team.
The players at times looked listless on the pitch, unable to really play in a coherent shape, and many players looked out of form.
However, the coach has not been afraid to make some important tweaks, and these appear to have paid off.
In Marani’s view, the 46-year-old former Lazio coach deserves immense credit for the job that he’s done.
“We all criticized Inzaghi a bit, but now we should give him credit for making some courageous decisions, like making Onana the starting goalkeeper, Calhanoglu playing in front of the defense, the return of de Vrij, Dimarco moved to left-wingback permanently.”
“Somehow he changed the inertia of the locker room,” Marani said, “something has changed after the players confronted each other.”
“Lautaro underlined his return to form by scoring in the league.”
“Now the Nerazzurri face two massive matches against Fiorentina and Sampdoria,” Marani continued, “they can no longer afford to make mistakes if they want to catch up at the top.”
