Inter striker Romelu Lukaku will undergo medical tests today to determine whether he should be available for next Saturday’s Serie A clash with Fiorentina.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that today’s tests should reveal whether the 29-year-old’s recovery will be fully completed in time for the trip to Tuscany.
Lukaku missed out on yesterday’s Serie A win over Salenritana, his eleventh match missed with a thigh injury, after tests last week showed that he was still not ready.
The Belgian has been getting closer and closer to a return for some time.
However, the feeling has always been that Lukaku will not be risked on the pitch if there is any chance of reinjury.
Accordingly, the 29-year-old was not included in the squad to face Salernitana yesterday, with the hope being that he can be ready for La Viola.
Today’s tests will determine whether Lukaku can take to the pitch next weekend without any risk of reinjury.
