Inter took to the pitch with a starting eleven with an average age above 29 for the fifth time this season in their Serie A victory over Salernitana.
This was highlighted by football statistics company Opta, via FCInterNews, who note that this makes the Nerazzurri the team to have had this average age the most times in the Italian top flight.
Inter’s average age in their starting eleven to face Salernitana was 29 years and 61 days.
While there are some younger players in the Nerazzurri’s team including midfielder Nicolo Barella and wingbacks Federico Dimarco and Denzel Dumfries, there are also several veterans.
Striker Edin Dzeko and midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan are among the oldest players in the Nerazzurri’s oldest players.
Meanwhile, defender Francesco Acerbi, aged 34, took the place of the much younger Alessandro Bastoni in the team against the Granata.
In goal, however, 37-year-old captain Samir Handanovic was on the bench, whilst 26-year-old Andre Onana started.
