Inter striker Romelu Lukaku will undergo medical tests today which determine whether he is able to return to full training.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the 29-year-old is hoping to get back to working with the rest of the squad so that he can be fit to be available against Fiorentina, and then start against Viktoria Plzen.
Lukaku missed out on the Nerazzurri’s match against Salernitana on Sunday entirely, but he is hoping to be available against Fiorentina.
One way or another, the Belgian would likely only be fit enough for the bench against La Viola.
However, any return to the pitch for Lukaku would be massive, and it would also lay the groundwork to start in the Champions League against Viktoria Plzen next week.
It will be decisive to see whether the Belgian is able to return to full training.
Medical tests today should make clear whether Lukaku is fit enough to train normally with his teammates in the next couple of training sessions without risking reinjury.
