Former Inter defender Antonio Paganin feels that current Inter striker Lautaro Martinez feels indebted to the club and wants to prove himself.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster TMW Radio, Paganin suggested that the 25-year-old Argentine feels a gratitude to the Nerazzurri that has made him loyal.

Martinez has hardly been without opportunities to move to a different club than Inter over the past few years.

A number of top-level European clubs have shown a serious interest in signing the Argentine.

However, reports have always suggested that Martinez’s priority has always been to remain with the Nerazzurri in the face of transfer interest.

The player and his family being happy in Milan is one aspect that has always been mentioned behind Martinez’s desire to stay at Inter.

Apart from that, however, Martinez seems to feel a particular passion for wearing the Nerazzurri shirt, and he wants to repay the trust that the club has always placed in him to succeed.

“He is very grateful to Inter” Paganin said of Martinez, “and he gives me the impression that he wants to repay the team for what it has given him.”

“In the future, I believe there will be offers for him, but I don’t see him as the type of player who’d leave on a free transfer, not bringing anything into the club.”

“Dzeko is very good at tying the game together, dropping between the lines to play the ball,” he said.

“Lukaku, on the other hand, is more someone who attacks space in behind, who often takes defenders with him, allowing those who play close to him to carve out more space .”

Of the Nerazzurri’s recovery in form this season, Paganin said that “Getting results is crucial for a top team like Inter.”

“In the past few matches we’ve seen a great strength of character from them,” he continued, “something that had been a bit of a doubt earlier in the season.”

“It will be important to finish off well before the World Cup break.”

Of the midfielder Kristjan Asllani, Paganin said that “I am sorry to see Asllani isn’t playing much, he seems to be going through a but oif psychological difficulty.”

“Calhanoglu, on the other hand, is much more experienced and has shown it in recent weeks.”

“At this moment the Turk proves that he can be a valid solution in that area of the pitch,” he added.

Paganin also noted that “The way Inter defend has change, they’re getting more help from the midfielders now.”
