Fiorentina forward Christian Kouame feels that La Viola will have extra motivation to try and beat Inter next weekend after a frustrating draw against Lecce yesterday.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN immediately after the match, the 24-year-old noted that the 1-1 draw was a very frustrating result for the Tuscans, and expressed the desire to get back to winning ways against the Nerazzurri.

Fiorentina’s season has not quite gone according to plan, as Vincenzo Italiano’s team find themselves stuck in midtable despite some encouraging performances and a fairly strong squad on paper.

Some disappointing results for La Viola should not let Inter think that next Saturday’s Serie A clash at the Stadio Artemio Franchi won’t be a hugely demanding match, however.

Fiorentina have plenty of quality and have shown that they can give anyone in Serie A a real match.

Moreover, as Kouame pointed out, the Viola players will be hungrier than ever to prove themselves after slumping to a draw against newly-promoted Lecce.

“Today we go home with a point, but it’s more like two points dropped for us,” the Ivorian lamented.

“It was a match we had to win at all costs,” he continued. “Now we have to make up for it against Inter.”
