Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio believes that at the moment Inter are not thinking about a big name sale.

Speaking to German news outlet Wettfreunde, the transfer market expert explained that apart from the possibility of losing Milan Skriniar, the club directors and coach Simone Inzaghi are hoping to keep the top players in the squad.

Inter’s financial situation has meant that big sales have been a real possibility over the past few transfer windows.

Two massive sales were made last summer, namely those of Achraf Hakimi and Romelu Lukaku.

Meanwhile, the summer transfer window just gone passed without any of the top players in the squad leaving despite no shortage of transfer links.

The financial situation at the club, and subsequent targets set by the ownership mean that big sales can never be ruled out.

However, according to Di Marzio, this is not really the thinking of Inzaghi or the directors.

Asked if he expects that wingback Denzel Dumfries could be sold, Di Marzio replied “No, he’s doing very well at Inter and has shown it against Barcelona recently.”

“Inter wouldn’t want to sell Dumfries, although in any case the financial situation is difficult for them.”

“For this reason, I think that any Inter player could be sold, but at the moment the ownership of Inter, Simone Inzaghi, and the directors have decided that the most important players in the squad will not be touched,” he continued.

Di Marzio also spoke about the contract situation of Skriniar, stating that “Inter’s problem is Skriniar’s contract extension, and the situation is even more dangerous than that of Leao at Milan.”

“Skriniar’s contract expires at the end of the season, and if they fail to agree on an extension, Skriniar could leave on a free transfer.”

“So there’s a risk that Inter could sell him in January, or else risk losing him without getting a transfer fee in June,” he said.

Di Marzio also spoke about the situation of striker Romelu Lukaku, currently back on a loan deal from Chelsea.

“They will try to extend Lukaku’s loan for next season as well,” the transfer market expert explained.

“I don’t know if Chelsea will ask for Lautaro, Skriniar, or Dumfries in the negotiations for Lukaku,” he added.

“It will depend on the situations of the two clubs, but soon they’ll talk again because Lukaku wants to stay at Inter, so for this reason Chelsea and Inter will hold talks again, possibly with other players getting involved in the negotiations.”
