Italian journalist Giancarlo Padovan believes Romelu Lukaku has deteriorated physically, as the Belgian international striker continues to recover from his injury.
As Inter Milan get ready to face off against ACF Fiorentina in Serie A on Saturday at the Stadio Artemio Franchi with kick-off scheduled for 20:45 CET, Italian journalist Giancarlo Padovan assessed Romelu Lukaku’s physical condition whilst also complimenting Edin Dzeko and Hakan Calhanoglu.
“Lukaku has gotten weaker as a player. His super strength is now a curse. He used to be explosive on the pitch during the Scudetto run under [Antonio] Conte, but now he is a normal player without taking his injury into consideration,” he said on air yesterday afternoon on Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia
However, Padovan complemented Inter players Edin Dzeko and Hakan Calhanoglu for their ability to replace Romelu Lukaku and Marcelo Brozovic, who have been long-term absences due to their injuries.
“Compliments to Dzeko who replaced [Lukaku], but it was more difficult to imagine how Calhanoglu would replace Brozovic.
“Calhanoglu can now match Brozovic, if we compare them today. This will avoid having to experiment with Asllani,” concluded the Sky Sport Italia journalist.
Inter striker Romelu Lukaku has missed 7 of 10 Serie A games this season and all 4 games so far in the UEFA Champions League through injury.
Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozovic has missed 3 Serie A games and 2 UEFA Champions League so far this season through injury.
