Inter had already been targeting Villarreal wingback Alfonso Pedraza during the summer transfer window just gone, although there was no time to reach an agreement on a move.

This according to the player’s agent, Hector Peris Ros, who told Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport that the Nerazzurri and also Atalanta had been targeting the 26-year-old this summer in an interview published in today’s print edition.

Pedraza has been a name linked with Inter in recent weeks, with the Spaniard seen as a suitable profile for the left flank should a player be sought for that position.

The 26-year-old has also been linked with Juventus in recent reports.

The Nerazzurri could well move for Pedraza in January or next summer should they decide that a left-wingback signing is a priority.

According to the player’s agent, moreover, there had already been some talks during the summer transfer window, although they didn’t result in a move.

“In the last days of August we spoke it with Inter,” he said, “but no agreement has been reached for now, partly because there wasn’t much time before the transfer window closed.”

“In the past, Atalanta had also shown interest,” he continued.

“His agreement with Villarreal is clear,” Peris Ros noted, “if a big team comes in for him, a reasonable offer will be listened to.”
