Inter appear to have found an attacking balance that works for the team with Federico Dimarco and Denzel Dumfries starting on opposite flanks.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who highlight the effectiveness of the wingback duo in today’s print edition.

Dimarco hadn’t necessarily been expected to be Inter’s main left-wingback before the season began, but the 24-year-old has earned his spot in the team.

The former Hellas Verona wingback has shown that he can be more effective in an advanced position than in the back three, as he has refined the timing of his runs to stretch opposition defenses, and his deliveries are looking better than ever.

Meanwhile, Dumfries has largely kept his starting spot on the right.

While the Dutchman’s displays have not been at his consistent best, in recent matches he has shown exactly why he is considered such an effective attacking threat.

Playing with Dimarco on the opposite flank looks to have unlocked something in Dumfries, who has proved the team’s most effective counterattacking outlet to punish high defensive lines, particularly with Romelu Lukaku still out.
