Inter striker Romelu Lukaku has given a decisive response to a rumour spread by UK tabloid The Sun that he had been caught smoking an e-cigarette whilst getting back to fitness following a thigh injury.

Writing on his Instagram story, as reported by FCInter1908, the 29-year-old denied the rumour and suggested that his legal team will be ready to defend him against the accusations.

UK tabloid The Sun published photos of a man smoking an e-cigarette, claiming that they showed Lukaku.

While there could be some resemblance to the Nerazzurri striker, no evidence is provided that the photos, which do not clearly show the man’s face, are actually him.

The insinuation is that part of the reason that Lukaku has taken longer than expected to recover from a thigh problem is that his off-the-pitch lifestyle has not helped with his overall fitness.

The 29-year-old, however, denied this in no uncertain terms, and also expressed his anger and his desire to take action to defend himself.

Lukaku wrote, “The Sun newspaper, you guys are messing with the wrong one. Keep f*cking playing.”

“My people will contact you soon,” he added.

Shortly after, the Belgian clarified that “You guys are lame as f*ck for posting a picture that ain’t me and posting the wrong info,” regarding the incident.
