Inter striker Lautaro Martinez really looks to have rediscovered himself with his goal and assist against Barcelona in the Champions League.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who note the extra edge of confidence that have appeared in the 25-year-old’s game.

Martinez had not exactly been performing badly in his eight-match run without a goal in an Inter shirt.

When chances fell to the Argentine in that period he invariably passed them up, although the workrate was certainly still there, and he found other ways to get at opposition backlines.

However, the striker’s display in Inter’s thrilling 3-3 draw at the Camp Nou was in another world from those displays.

Martinez’s composure and precision in key moments showed that all the focus and intensity that he’d been showing in the matches before could manifest in a clinical edge in front of goal.

Now, the Lautaro Martinez who had to suffer through a frustrating goal drought looks to be a think of the past, as the Argentine striker is “reborn.”
