Inter striker Romelu Lukaku will not travel with the squad for tomorrow’s Serie A clash with Fiorentina, so that he can have more time on the training pitch.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the decision not to call the 29-year-old is primarily a matter of giving him more time to train.
Lukaku is technically already fit enough to be on the bench in tomorrow evening’s match.
However, the Belgian would certainly be restricted to at most an appearance from the bench given his current fitness levels.
Accordingly, the priority is to see Lukaku on the training pitch as much as possible so that he can build back his fitness, rather than travelling with the squad.
Given that the striker would not have much of a role to play against La Viola one way or another, the feeling is that there would be little point to him travelling with the squad.
