Former Inter CEO Ernesto Paolillo feels that the Nerazzurri did not have the greatest of summer transfer windows to be competitive this season.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Radio Punto Nuovo, Paolillo gave the view that the Nerazzurri struggled given the constraints put on them financially by owners Suning.

Inter were fairly active in the summer transfer window, with a number of players both arriving and departing.

So far, few of the signings made in the summer have truly had a decisive impact, although many have played and shown their qualities.

In Paolillo’s view, the Nerazzurri will struggle to maintain their best form with the squad that they have.

The former executive blames this on the inability to spend to any significant degree during the summer transfer window.

“I have some doubts about Inter having recovered in form,” he said.

“That being said,” he continued, “I think there’s still room for them to get back into the title race.”

Of the transfer window, he said that “Inter didn’t have a great one, unfortunately, but the budget required selling and not buying.”

“It’s difficult to compete with this policy,” he added.
