Inter President Steven Zhang is set to attend the match and join up with the team when they face Fiorentina this evening, in his first appearance for five months.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Zhang has not been present at a Nerazzurri fixture since they defeated Juventus in the Coppa Italia Final at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome in May.

However, he is set to travel from China to be in attendance in Florence, before watching on as Inter seek to secure their passage from the Champions League group stage against Viktoria Plzen on Wednesday, and finally, holding a shareholders’ meeting on Friday.

It is reported that Zhang and Suning are continuing to seek additional funding to support the running of Inter, whilst focusing on reducing operating costs and increasing revenue.

With the Biscione currently requiring €10 million per month on top of it’s revenue, and a loan from Oaktree Capital maturing, Inter are far from achieving sustainability and it is believed that Zhang will seek additional loans from US investment firms.

Indeed, he has recently travelled to the US and it is reported that this was with the purpose of bringing in additional funding.

With experienced investors from North America, Zhang is contemplating the sale of a minority stake and would prefer this to selling outright.
