Italian journalist Maurizio Pistocchi expects that it won’t be very long at all before Inter are sold by current owners Suning.

Speaking to Italian news outlet Inter-News.it, Pistocchi gave his thoughts on the possible sale of the Nerazzurri, and also suggested a couple of possible signings that the team could make in attack.

Rumours have been emerging regarding a possible sale of Inter by Suning over the past few days.

Reports have suggested that, whereas before, the owners had only been looking for minority partners to invest, now it is all but official that they are looking for an outright buyer.

Major questions are being raised about the Nerazzurri’s future, although for his part, Pistocchi expects that they will be answered sooner rather than later.

Of the situation, Pistocchi said that “I think it will accelerate very quickly.”

“I don’t think Suning will still be owners at Christmas,” he added.

“When the Financial Times reports something it should be trusted. This is not some Italian paper.”

Regarding the contract extension talks of Inter defender Milan Skriniar, Pistocchi gave the view that “It all depends on the future of the club at the corporate level.”

“I believe Inter will be sold, I think there are some serious proposals coming from the US,” he added.

“When huge funds take over, they often try to trade out some players,” he said regarding how new owners could approach the Skriniar situation.

“So if an offer comes in that would allow them to fix the balance sheet, and especially if there are good replacement, in my opinion he could be sold.”

Asked how he would improve the squad in January if he ran Inter, Pistocchi replied that “If I were at Inter and I had to invest some money, I would spend it on a striker.”

“Inter are lacking in that regard,” he added.

He continued that “Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez are good as far as the starters, but you have to have a backup duo.”

Pistocchi argued that “Dzeko is a good player but he scores few goals.”

“They’d also need someone to replace Correa who can score a certain number of goals.”

Of some suggestions for attacking signings, Pistocchi noted that “Cremonese forward Cyriel Dessers is the kind of player who’d be well-suited to a top-level squad.”

He continued that “Last week, in Lazio’s match against Sturm Graz, I saw a player, William Boving, who would be able to play at a high level, in Italian football and beyond.”

Pistocchi argued that “The right players are out there, you just need to have the right eye for them.”

“You have to look for them and make the right kinds of choices.”
