Inter coach Simone Inzaghi admitted that yesterday’s 4-3 win over Fiorentina in Serie A followed a similar pattern to the 3-3 draw against Barcelona earlier this month.

The Nerazzurri looked to be in control at 2-0 and 3-2 up, before being pegged back twice, but Henrikh Mkhitaryan struck in the dying seconds to seal the win and give Inter a third consecutive league victory.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, and as reported by FCInterNews.it, Inzaghi confessed that the Biscione had struggled at times but shown great spirit to fight back and secure the win.

“I absolutely see similarities with Barcelona, we were pulled back twice. Then we had that moment after the penalty that reopened the game and we felt it. But this time they came back twice, the first was a penalty and the second a goal from Ikoné,” the former Lazio coach claimed.

“On the third we had to be better because we lost the duel with Milenkovic and we lost Jovic in the box after he hits the ball.

“But the team believed until the end and got a victory which is a great signal for all of us, whilst the final celebration with the fans was an excellent sign.”

The coach was adamant that Inter were worthy winners and pointed to difficult conditions as reason to be optimistic.

“Inter played a great game, for 35 minutes we played a great game on a very difficult pitch.

“Then we conceded the goal from a penalty and we got a little nervous, stopped playing, but I have great players,” Inzaghi added.

“Beyond the three points it is a very important victory, the fourth in the last five games.”

Inter raced into a lead within the opening minutes through Nicolo Barella, and Inzaghi was full of praise for the Italian international.

“Clearly Nicolò has grown, he is giving us a great hand and his growth, together with that of his teammates, is very important for us.

“Last year he created a lot of assists, he was very high in the rankings as he is now for goals: today he could have had another one. He has to continue like this, everyone has to keep playing like this and Barella is one of them,” Inzaghi concluded.
