Italian journalist Mario Sconcerti argues that Inter Milan have had a change in mentality but created confusion in the second half against Fiorentina on Saturday.

Italian journalist Mario Sconcerti believes that Inter’s 4-3 away win in the Serie A against Fiorentina is a sign that the Nerazzurri changed their mentality after a previous poor run of form.

“Inter confirmed their change in mentality and the importance of Lautaro, Barella and Calhanoglu. They gained full points after losing the lead multiple times,” Sconcerti wrote in his op-ed in today’s print edition of Rome-based Corriere della Sera, as reported via FCInterNews.

“Fiorentina pressed and created a few chances but Inter have rhythm and discreet quality. The Viola paid the price for their physical exertion and they left space to Lautaro on the counter attack, who was the man of the match” Sconcerti wrote.

However, Sconcerti points out that Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been the surprise of the season.

“It was a game full of champions, capped off by Mkhitaryan, who has been the surprise in this new Inter,” continued the journalist.

“Inter have to reflect on the confusion that happened in the second half of the game. You can’t defend like that, but it remains an important success to climb up the league table,” concluded Sconcerti.

Inter are currently on a 5 game unbeaten run in all competition after winning and drawing Barcelona home and away in the UEFA Champions League and beating Sassuolo, Salernitana and Fiorentina in Serie A.

Prior to this good run of form, the Nerazzurri lost 3 of their last 5 games in Serie A, including a derby loss to AC Milan and 2 straight losses against Udinese and AS Roma.

Inter are hoping that this good run of form continues as their next game is against Viktoria Plzen in the UEFA Champions League and a win will secure a place in the Round of 16.
