Serie A referee Paolo Valeri will be taken off of one round of fixtures following his handling of Inter’s Serie A win over Fiorentina on Saturday evening.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who highlight the official’s failure to send of Inter wingback Federico Dimarco in noting that he will not be on duty for one round of fixtures in the league.

Inter’s 4-3 win against La Viola was a match that had threatened to get out of hand for long stretches, with multiple controversial incidents and both sets of players clearly getting close to boiling point at time.

For the Gazzetta, Valeri clearly made an error by failing to send of Dimarco for a studs-up tackle on Viola midfielder Giacomo Bonaventura.

That challenge resulted in a penalty being given by VAR as it was in the penalty area, but the Nerazzurri wingback was not even booked despite the dangerous nature of the challenge.
